....A trunk show occurs when a salon borrows many or all of the samples from one designer for a short time. It is the bride's opportunity to see, try on, and order from a selection of gowns unavailable at any other time.
Why is it called a "trunk" show?
Traditionally, gowns were transported from the designer's studio to the salon in giant, strapped trunks.
Now large garment bags packed in cardboard boxes are often used instead.
Many designers have special offers during a trunk show.
Some designers include special sizing or a 10% discount.
